SimCorp

Project Overview:

The Simcorp office, located in New York, New York, was looking to remodel their interior. The inspiration for the renovation stemmed from clean, sleek architectural elements. Designer Lauren Barmann played with transparency, light, and shades of blue, which represented the company’s branding. The project was approximately 9,945 usable square feet.

The contrasting colors and textured shades of greys, blues, and whites that Simcorp featured using Formica® Laminates helped portray their brand throughout the space. The direction was to create an area that was open, collaborative, multifunctional, while also maintaining the structured and professional environment of Simcorp.

The previous working environment of Simcorp did not portray the company’s true collective culture, nor did it facilitate the most efficient way they should be working. The client wanted to construct a more wide-open and functional space that met the needs of every department.

Since the project was only 9,945 usable square feet, it was a challenge to fit multiple meeting rooms into such a small floor plan. The design proposal included separate workstations and conference rooms that became difficult to fit into such a small space. Although the limited floor plan challenged the designer, Barmann made it work. To overcome the renovation obstacles, the design team solved their problem in an innovative way by using the Formica® Laminate.  Also, the schedule of completing the project was also quite aggressive as it was the middle of the holiday season.

The Formica® Laminates were used for millwork application, specifically countertops and upper and lower cabinetry. The designer knew Formica® Laminate is a very cost effective and an easy product to use in a millwork application. Due to the Formica® Laminate product’s flexible use and pricing, Barmann was able to keep the project within budget and on schedule.

“Formica® Laminate allowed us to integrate the most cost
effective and functional millwork solution for the space while keeping the
clean and contrasting look we wanted to achieve,” said Barmann.
