The Edge

The Edge

Overview of Project:

The Edge Flats is a stylish, off-campus apartment building located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. SouthPark Interiors, a full service commercial design firm specializing in student housing, multi-family and hospitality, was responsible for selecting all of the finishes for the unites, and amenity spaces, such as the club house, pool and gym.

Common living space with kitchen in the background and family room with large u-shaped couch facing a TV hanging over a fireplace.
The SouthPark team was challenged to design a big room that needed to be broken up into separate vignettes to create different looks in each space, on a limited budget.

With limited dollars to put toward tiling, SouthPark Interiors elected to tile the fireplace, and used 180fx® by Formica Group in Travertine Silver on the flanking vertical surfaces.

SouthPark Interiors also selected Formica® Laminate in Surf to create seating, and Natural Ribbonwood to create toilet partitions in the amenity area and the clubhouse.

“Formica® Products allow us to use a lot of different textures. The Formica® 180fx® large-scale laminate design varied nicely from the look of the Formica® Laminate in Surf—a great combination that can be difficult to pull off using other materials.

Not only beautiful, Formica® Products are also priced affordably to fit within our budget for the project,” said Brooks Johnson, Principal with SouthPark Interiors and Lead Designer.
